I. VISUAL ARTS

At Saraf Public School, we believe that every child is an artist at heart. The Visual Arts curriculum encourages learners to explore, experiment, and express themselves with curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Our Visual Arts Centre provides a vibrant environment where imagination takes shape through painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media.

Students engage in a variety of introductory and advanced workshops, learning essential techniques that help transform ideas into artistic expressions. As they work with colours, textures, and materials, they also discover how art connects with science, mathematics, literature, history, technology, and music.

Whether it is the delicate power of a brushstroke, the rhythm of a line, or the symmetry of a handcrafted clay bowl, every student—regardless of skill level—gets the opportunity to create, reflect, and appreciate beauty.

The Visual Arts Centre showcases an inspiring collection of student artwork. Here, painters master light, colour theory, and composition; ceramicists draw inspiration from ancient Indian traditions and modern techniques; and young illustrators explore line, depth, and form to bring their drawings to life.

II. CERAMICS & SCULPTURE

Our Ceramics & Sculpture Program offers students the chance to work with a rich array of materials and sculptural techniques. Learners explore hand-building, mould-making, and slip-casting with materials ranging from porcelain to plaster, clay to mixed media.

The focus remains on observation, imagination, and craftsmanship. Students create everything from subtle installations to bold, expressive pieces. As they shape, carve, cast, and assemble, they develop not only technical skills but also patience, problem-solving abilities, and a deeper sense of artistic identity.

III. DRAWING & PAINTING

Drawing

Drawing lies at the foundation of all artistic creation at Saraf Public School. Students from Class III to Class XII develop essential observational skills through direct drawing exercises. They learn to use diverse media and techniques—pencil, charcoal, ink, and more. Drawings may serve as studies for larger works or stand alone as powerful pieces of art.

Painting

Painting at SPS embraces a full spectrum of styles and approaches. Students experiment with watercolours, pastels, gouache, acrylics, oils, and even industrial paints. From detailed still-life paintings to bold abstract compositions, learners are encouraged to take risks, explore freely, and develop their own artistic voice.

IV. EVENTS & EXHIBITIONS

The Visual Arts Centre hosts two major exhibitions annually.

Work-in-Progress Exhibition (Term I)

This exhibition offers students the opportunity to share their creative journey, displaying ongoing projects and examination material. Parents and teachers get an inside look at the artistic process and the effort behind each piece.

Annual Art Exhibition (Term II)

A grand showcase of artwork created by students across all grades. The exhibition features drawings, paintings, sculpture, pottery, mixed media, and sketchbooks—reflecting the full diversity, creativity, and passion that thrive in the Visual Arts Centre.

V. PERFORMING ARTS

  1. DRAMA / THEATRE

The Theatre Program at Saraf Public School welcomes every student—whether a seasoned performer or a curious beginner. Through a rich blend of theatre styles, dramatic texts, and performance techniques, students develop confidence, communication skills, and creativity.

The program spans Classes VI–XII and includes hands-on workshops, theatre trips, and live performances.

  • Introductory Level: Focuses on voice and body training, improvisation, storytelling, and basic scene work.
  • Intermediate Level: Explores theatre history, script interpretation, performance studies, playwriting, and design.
  • Advanced Level: Students create original work, collaborate within theatre troupes, and direct full-scale productions.

Beyond acting, students gain skills in lighting, sound, stage management, props, set design, and technical theatre—preparing them for a complete theatrical experience.

2. DANCE

The Dance Program is built on three pillars—technique, choreography, and performance. Students explore Indian classical dance forms, modern dance, creative movement, and fitness-based modules, depending on faculty expertise.

Through improvisation, collaborative choreography, and stage performances, learners become versatile dancers and confident performers. Participation in annual events, cultural showcases, and school functions helps them develop discipline, leadership, teamwork, adaptability, and artistic expression.

3. MUSIC

The Music Program at SPS nurtures a lifelong appreciation for music while building musical proficiency and performance excellence. Students are offered instruction at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels across Indian and Western music disciplines.

Learners participate in:

  • Choir and vocal training
  • Band and orchestra
  • Instrumental music (Indian and Western)

Performance opportunities range from school assemblies to recitals, annual functions, cultural festivals, and special events. In a supportive environment, students are encouraged to challenge themselves, explore musical creativity, and perform with confidence.
